This year's Annual Scottish Allotments Gathering and AGM will be held in the Victoria Halls, Dunblane on Saturday June 15. The session will be introduced by our President, Ian Welsh.

The morning will be devoted to practical issues of planning, creating and managing allotment growing spaces. The new booklet in our Galvanising Guides series, Plan To Grow, will be launched by Steve Tolson, the planning consultant responsible for it. We will hear from Fife about how council officials can plan to insert growing spaces into housing developments, and both good and bad experiences of volunteer groups setting up their own allotment site.

A soup and sandwich lunch will be available in the hall and there will be stalls to visit, and an excellent opportunity to compare notes with other participants. After the break, we will concentrate more on issues of growing, with presentations from several allotment sites and finally advice from SNH about what we should grow to encourage the pollinators on which we all depend.

The AGM of the Society will take place immediately after the gathering. In spite of the temptation to get an early train home, it would be great if as many members as possible would stay behind for this meeting. In addition to the ordinary business the meeiting will deal with the very important issue of changing the structure of SAGS from an unincorporated voluntary organisation into a SCIO - a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation.
